Defenders of Hogwarts Review

This page will carry our full, independent review: component quality, gameplay depth, faction balance, playtime, and whether Defenders of Hogwarts is worth the price.
What you can expect, and when: backer copies of the game began reaching supporters in October 2026, so hands-on impressions from the first wave of players are only just becoming possible. Independent text and video reviews are starting to appear elsewhere; we’re tracking them alongside our own testing. We deliberately don’t publish a score before we’ve played the full game.
In the meantime, the rulebook alone already tells you a lot about the design: a 1-vs-many asymmetric deck builder for 2–5 players at about 90 minutes, where the House team races to collect 2 of 6 Defence Shields while the Dark Arts Player climbs a three-zone path and escorts pawns to a target location. Our How to Play and rulebook pages cover the mechanics in detail.
